What The Heck Has Happened to Tim Lincecum?

Tim Lincecum Is 0-2 with An ERA Of 10.54 So Far In The 2012 Baseball Season

This early 2012 baseball season has not been kind to Tim Lincecum so far. As a life-long San Francisco Giants fan, I am worried.. big time! What has happened to Timmy??!!

He seems to be getting shelled in every outing so far in 2012. First it was to the rival Arizona Diamondbacks. In that game on April 6, 2012, Lincecum pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up 6 hits and 5 earned runs as the Giants lose 5-4.

Lincecum’s next start was also against one of their NL West rivals, the Colorado Rockies on april 11, 2012. The Rockies pounded Tim Lincecum around for 6 runs on 8 hits in only 2 1/3 innings. The Giants ended up getting killed by the Rockies by the score of 17-8. It was the shortest outing of Tim Lincecum’s career.

San Francisco Giants' Fans Are Hoping Tim Lincecum Can Turn His Early 2012 Slump Around

Then yesterday, 4-16-2012, the Giants were hosting the Philadelphia Phillies. It was set to be a classic pitching matchup between Tim Lincecum and Roy Halladay. Halladay did his part as he pitched 8 innings and gave up 2 runs on 7 hits and lead the Phillies to a 5-2 victory over the Giants. But Timmy struggled yet again. He gave up 8 hits and 5 earned runs in just 6 innings pitched.

So, the question that all Giants’ fans are asking is “What the heck has happened to Tim Lincecum?” So far in this young 2012 baseball season, Tim Lincecum 0-2 and has pitched 13.2 innings. He has an ERA of 10.54. He has given up 22 hits and 16 earned runs. He has also given up 2 homers already. The good news is that the strikeouts still seem to be there for Lincecum as he has fanned 16 batters in his 13.2 innings pitched so far in 2012.

Hopefully this is just a bump in the road for Tim Lincecum and he can turn things around in the rest of the 2012 baseball season. Maybe it is something in his pitching mechanics. We all know that something isn’t right so far. Come on Timmy! Us Giants’ fans are pulling for ya!

God knows that the Giants need Timmy to pitch well because now they have lost their colorful closer Brian wilson for the entire 2012 campaign. Could be a long season for the San Francisco Giants if this trend continues. Stay tuned.
